Vanilla Pear Protein Oats MYFITNESSPAL.com

Vanilla Pear Protein Oats MYFITNESSPAL.com

I’ve been using the MYFITNESSPAL app for some time now and was only getting pretty depressing results because my weight was going up and down like a yo-yo. I had only been paying attention the the calories portion and assumed this less than stellar weight loss was because of my age and my inability to do any cardio other than slow walking. At my daughters insistence last week, I started concentrating on the Macros, Nutrients and the Calories portion of the app and I can’t believe the difference…I lost 5.9lbs in one week!!!!!!! I have 28lbs to loose so that’s a phenomenal start and it was substantial enough to keep me encouraged and wanting to learn new recipes and meal plans to keep me on track. I realize most people find this too time consuming in addition to the rest of the things they have to fit into their busy daily routines but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE doing this kind of thing. So I thought it would be helpful to share my recipes and meal plans with those of you that either don’t have to time or don’t enjoy doing this sort of thing. We all have our strengths so there is no judgement on my part…I’m thrilled to be able to share this with all of you.

This recipe is the first MYFITNESSPAL inspired recipe I’ve added to my website, so this section will grow organically over time. I’ll also be sure to share my weight-loss successes and failures with you along the way. It feels so strange for me to be writing about an eating plan to help you loose weight because I absolutely abhor fad diets. I especially hate hearing people talk about them! In all fairness though this is the first time I’ve ever had to actively try to loose weight and it isn’t easy!!!! I’ve always been relatively the same weight and have been very balanced in my eating habits and the amount of daily exercise I get so I’ve never really had to think about it before…not even after I had kids! I left the hospital wearing the clothes I wore before I got pregnant. Feel free to roll your eyes lol.

You’re probably thinking what the hell happened all of a sudden that started tipping the scale in the wrong direction! Well I got sick…VERY sick! Long story short I took an antibiotic that has a very rare side effect called Intra Cranial Hypertention which is your body producing too much cerebral spinal fluid which then puts pressure on your brain. The symptoms mimic those of a brain tumour which was VERY scary especially because I have 2 very dear friends that passed away from having brain tumours. After every test known to man and almost a year of seeing several specialists they are 99% sure that is what has happened…it will be confirmed in April after a lumbar puncture…insert scared face here 😳

On top of the hell that I’ve been through it’s also had the added bonus of me not being able to exercise or exert myself at all…for several months I could barely even get off the sofa without my brain feeling like it was going to explode. I went from consistently walking between 15,000-20,000 steps a day to 200 steps a day for a 3 month period and now have been able to gradually increase since then. I’m mostly better now but I still can’t do any type of cardio except slow walking, anything more and my head pressure starts up again and I’m out of commission for days.

So that’s my story in a nutshell, feel free to share your stories, weight-loss successes and struggles in the comment section…it’s always nice to feel like we aren’t alone in this.

Here’s the recipe…and I promise the future recipes will not have a long write up before you can get to the recipe. That’s my biggest pet peeve on most food blogs!!!!! xox
