Live Plants?

Live Plants?

I've always said live plants can breathe a breath of fresh air into your home. They warm up a space and make it feel bright and alive... don't you think? These are all good things, except, they are often expensive to buy can be difficult to keep alive!!!! As a decorator, I am naturally inclined to put plants where they look best. Not necessarily where they will thrive, which usually means they don't last long. Lol. Often, a dark corner of a room will be brightened up with the simple addition of a live plant. A fake plant will simply not give a room the same look that a real one will. So what's a girl to do, when she has a black thumb when it comes to live indoor plants? Cheat!

I've figured out an ingenious way to make my orchids look as though they're flourishing indefinitely!!!! Yes that's right...as long as you can manage to keep the leaves of your orchid alive, you'll be able to fool everyone into thinking your orchid is flowering indefinitely. Soon, you'll have everyone fooled into thinking you've become a green thumb.

Here's my secret... when the flowers on my orchid died and fell off, I simply bought a few stems of good quality, "fake blooms" and attached them with twist ties to the old stems. The real leaves and stems that the fake blooms are attached to create the illusion that the entire plant including the flowers are real. Isn't that GENIUS?!!! You'll never have to buy another expensive orchid again.

The white orchid pictured above (my favourite!) has blooms from Walmart that I paid $6 a stem for. A bargain when you consider they will last forever.
